New Plant Based Restaurant Instant Jaco Favorite

For the owners of Ser, their philosphy is quite simple, WE ARE WHAT WE EAT.  SER the new restaurant in downtown Jaco that opened up in October last year continues getting a lot of fans among locals and tourists.
SER, which translates in English as BEING,  is a space of love and balanced food, full of flavor with natural, fresh, healthy, and nutritious ingredients. “Soul food, 100% plant-based” this is how its owners Maria Fernanda and Marco describe it. Originally from San Jose, they were spending a lot of weekends vacationing in Jaco, they felt that it was harder and harder to go back to the city, so they decided to move to Jaco full time and open the restaurant. They found in Jaco a town with exciting growth in gastronomy, art, and culture and it seemed a perfect place to start their project and new life. Jaco is a community that is increasingly interested in well-being, health, and good food, says Maria Fernanda, who mentioned to me when I visited the restaurant that curiously most of theirs customers are not vegans or vegetarians, but people interested in eating well and healthy.
The name of the restaurant comes from connecting with our essence in balance and harmony with the environment that surrounds us. By living a conscious life, starting with what we eat, we enter a state of connection with our body, soul, and spirit in union with the planet. And all this is reflected in the restaurant, which is beautifully decorated with an intimate atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy their delicious food. The menu is has a great variety, with striking dishes, full of color and flavor, natural and fresh ingredients. Some of our most popular dishes and must try are:
– Grilled eggplant and pear gratin with a coconut-mint yogurt dressing
– Portobello Miso Carpaccio
– Pejibaye and heart of palm ceviche with coconut curry
– Poke bowl with a sautéed and marinated tofu skin
– Tofrijo like the classic Costa Rican dish made with crispy tofu
– Pasta Carbonara with marinated mushrooms, edamame, arugula, and sauteed carrot strips
– Portogrill Salad is our most popular salad with rolled portobello mushrooms marinated with miso paste.

“The sea and the beach have always offered us a space of well-being, peace, and connection with ourselves. We faithfully believe that we have entered a global level of consciousness about the decisions we make, about the food we eat, the habits that we frequent, the place where we live, and most importantly our connection with nature” Maria Fernanda co owner of SER.

SER is open from Wednesday to Sunday from dinner and Friday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. Location: 25m south and 25m west of BAC San Jose. Look for the white building they are on the second floor.
