New French Bakery in Jaco Gets Rave Reviews

Opening up a restaurant during these times takes some confidence.  While their intention was actually to open up prior to the pandemic, this french family didn’t let anything steer them away and proceeded to open their bakery and restaurant Patisserie Manon.

Originally from France, life has taken their family to a few different places around the world. First, in Tahiti where they opened their first French bakery called Patisserie Manon, named after their first daughter.  They lived there for about 8 years before deciding to move on to a new place.  They later ended up settling down in Las Vegas for 10 years, where they again opened a French bakery named Patisserie Manon. After a while, they decided that they needed a fresh start, especially with everything happening in the world today, and they chose to move once again, this time landing in Costa Rica, where they have grown very fond of the “Pura Vida” lifestyle.  They wish to introduce to Jaco some new flavors, in hopes to bring some smiles to peoples faces!

I asked Manon, what brought you to Jaco?  She said, “We moved out of the United States because we do not have a green card (we were under a visa) and it was just getting too complicated and too expensive to keep up with. Costa Rica was one of the last places we visited and immediately loved. We came here on vacation for two weeks and were really seduced by Jaco. The pura vida lifestyle and friendly town/community really stuck out to us. We were ready for a change, this is exactly what we needed!”

Manon’s French Toast is pretty amazing!

And what would you say is your must try item at your bakery?  “Oooh that’s a hard question! Honestly everyone is different, it all depends on what that person is craving on that specific day they are visiting us!”, replied Manon.  “We have a variety of desserts, viennoiserie, breads, and hot meals (cassoulet, beef bourguignon, soups, ham/cheese croissants, quiches, pizza baguettes and MORE)”.  I would have to agree with her, I’ve tried number of things there so far and not sure if I could just pick one item to try, but have to say their French Toast is the best I’ve had in Costa Rica”

Patisserie Manon is located in the center of Jaco just about 50 meters south from Mas por Menos.  Be sure to check them out the next time you are in town.
