Artify Jaco Continues with More Murals
Jaco faces a difficult road to economic recovery, but the community continues to come together during these challenging times. Artify Jaco is helping to inspire the community with its latest mural. Popular Costa Rican artist Danny Herrera added this beautiful piece in the center of town, “Song of Unity” is a hummingbird singing a message of hope: “We are stronger together,even when we are separate” Tico Pod co-sponsored this Artify Jaco mural with Vacasa.

Danny Alexander Herrera Batista was born in 1990 in the province of Limón. At age 15 he began to paint and since then he has dedicated himself to painting landscapes and animals. He has used different techniques and surfaces from canvas to bird feathers and large outdoor walls. Most of the time he uses acrylic to paint. He has always painted what is around him; influenced by the natural world he saw during his childhood and the many places in Costa Rica he has called home.
Danny is always motivated to paint the place where he lives. He is very observant, and he does not often use photos as reference. Everything he does comes from the memories and sensations generated in his mind. “I paint what I can see and what I remember”. Many of his works are exhibited and are for sale in the TICO POD Art House + Gifts gallery located in Jacó.
